Sandra was born on July 26th 1964 in Arlington, VA (a suburb of Washington D.C.) as Sandra Annette Bullock. However, she never uses her second name. Her mother's name is Helga, born as Meyer, who was a German opera singer. Unfortunately she already died on April 4th 2000 because of cancer. Her father John, who now helps managing her production company Fortis Films and Rebaw, he worked as a voice coach for the Pentagon in Bavaria (Germany), where he also met Helga. Sandra also has a younger sister. Gesine's profession is a lawyer, and mainly deals with youth crimes.

Sandra grew up as a young girl between artists and actors, because of her mother's profession. From 1964 until 1977 she moved often with her parents between Europe and America. By this time she mainly lived in Salzburg (Austria) and Nuremburg (Germany). Sandra was on stage for the first time at age 12. In 1977 Helga got a job for 1 1/2 years in the opera of Salzburg. Today Sandra says, she remembers that when she played around backstage , she knew since that time she has always wanted to be in the spotlight.

In 1978 her father John got a job directly in the Pentagon so they finally move to Arlington, where she was born. She went to Washington Lee High School there, and in the year-book she is called "clown of the grade" (in the positive way). Though her parents wished she would have attended The Jilliard University where her father went to, but she choose to go to the less spectecular East Carolina Universitiy in Greenville. Today she says that this decision was just perfect. This University is close enough to visit her parents easily but it is also far enough away to fool around a little. In second term she changes from her original study to do drama.
With her friend at that time, Mark Brunetz, she participated in many dancing competitions of which she won a lot. But that's not all , In 1984 she was voted Cheerleader Captain and in the year-book she is voted "Most likely to brighten up your day".

Suddenly she decided to leave the University and then she goes to New York. There she earned her money with several jobs in bars, she even worked (of course without knowing it) in a "crack-bar" until it is found out. Her final education she gets from the acting-teacher-legend Sanford Meisner in New York. After applying for several roles in theaters she got her first stage preformace in 1987 in "No Time Flat", an off-Broadway theater. In the New York Daily she was the only one mentioned positively in this theater production. A talent seeker found Sandra by this time and arranged her first starring role in the action movie "Hangmen", also in 1987. She already appears for about 15 minutes in that movie and had the main supporting actress role.

Sandra Annette Bullock (born July 26, 1964) is a Screen Actors Guild Award winning and two-time Golden Globe Award nominated American-German actress. She came to fame in the 1990s, after roles in successful films such as Speed and While You Were Sleeping, and has since established her career as a well-known leading Hollywood actress, with the box office comedy hit Miss Congeniality and one of her most recent film roles, in 2004's Crash, having received critical acclaim. She was ranked as the 14th richest female celebrity with an estimated fortune of $85 million in early 2007.[1]

Early life
Bullock was born in Arlington County, Virginia, the daughter of Helga D. Meyer, a German opera singer, and John W. Bullock, a Pentagon contractor, executive and part-time vocal coach from Alabama.[2][3] Bullock's maternal grandfather was a rocket scientist from Nuremberg, Germany. Bullock lived in Nuremberg until age twelve, where she sang in the opera's children's choir at the Staatstheater Nürnberg. [4] She frequently traveled with her mother on her opera tours, and lived in Germany and other parts of Europe for much of her childhood. She retains German citizenship.[5] Bullock studied ballet and vocal arts as a child, taking small parts in her mother's opera productions.
Bullock attended Washington-Lee High School where she was a cheerleader, participated in high school theater productions and dated a football player.[6] She graduated in 1982 and enrolled in East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. During this time, she worked as a waitress at a restaurant.[6] She later left school during her senior year (Spring 1986), only three credits short of graduating, to pursue an acting career.[6] She went on to Manhattan to pursue auditions and supported herself with a variety of odd jobs (bartender, cocktail waitress, coat checker).[6]
Bullock later completed her coursework and was awarded a bachelor's degree from East Carolina University.[7] She is fluent in German.

While in New York, Bullock took acting classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse. She had appeared in several student films and had later landed a role in an Off-Broadway play No Time Flat.[6] Director Alan J. Levi was impressed by Bullock's performance and offered her a part in the made-for-TV movie Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman (1989). After filming the TV movie, Bullock had stayed in Los Angeles, California, and was cast in a series of small roles in several independent films as well as in the lead role of the short-lived NBC television version of the film Working Girl (1990). She had later appeared in several films such as Love Potion No. 9 (1992), The Thing Called Love (1993) and Fire on the Amazon (where she agreed to appear topless if the camera did not show that much, she covered herself with duct tape which apparently was somewhat painful to take off).[6]

One of Bullock's first notable movie appearances was in the science-fiction/action movie, Demolition Man (1993), which had starred Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes. This role then led to her break-through performance in Speed the following year. She became a high-level movie star in the late 1990s, carrying a string of successes, including While You Were Sleeping (replacing actress Demi Moore, who was originally scheduled to star), Miss Congeniality and Two Weeks Notice. Bullock received 11 million dollars for Speed 2[6] and 17.5 million dollars for Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous.[6]

Bullock was selected as one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1996 and 1999, and was also ranked #58 in Empire magazine's Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time list. She was presented with the 2002 Raul Julia Award for Excellence[8] for her efforts, as the executive producer of the sitcom The George Lopez Show, in helping expand career openings for Hispanic talent in the media and entertainment industry. She also guest starred as Accident Amy in two episodes.

In 2004, Bullock had a supporting role in the film Crash. She received positive reviews for her performance, with some critics suggesting that it was the best performance of her career.[citation needed] Bullock later appeared in The Lake House, a romantic drama also starring her Speed co-star, Keanu Reeves; it was released on June 16, 2006. Because their film characters are separated throughout the film (due to the plot revolving around time travel), Bullock and Reeves were only on set together for two weeks during filming.[9] The same year, Bullock appeared in Infamous, playing author Harper Lee. Bullock also stars in Premonition with Julian McMahon, which was released in March 2007.[10]
Bullock received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 24, 2005. In January 2007, Bullock was named the 14th richest woman in entertainment by Forbes, with a net worth of $85 million.[11]

Bullock currently runs her own production company, Fortis Films. Her sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, is president of the company and her father, John Bullock, is its CEO.[12] She was an executive producer of George Lopez which garnered a lucrative syndication deal that banked Bullock some $10 million. She also made sporadic "cameo" appearances in the show as "Accident Amy," a factory worker prone to accidents in the workplace. Bullock tried to produce a film based on F.X. Toole's short story Million-Dollar Baby, but couldn't interest studios in a female boxing drama.[13] The story was eventually filmed by Clint Eastwood as the Oscar-winning film Million Dollar Baby (2004). Bullock's production company, Fortis Films, will produce her next movie, All About Steve. In the meantime, she tends to her Austin restaurant, Bess Bistro, and its first merchandising tie-in, a line of organic candles.

Bullock was once engaged to actor Tate Donovan whom she met while filming Love Potion No. 9. Their relationship lasted four years.[6] She had previously dated football player Troy Aikman, blues guitarist Guy Forsythe, Austin musician Bob Schneider (for two years)[6] and film co-stars, Ryan Gosling and Matthew McConaughey. McConaughey and Bullock met each other while filming A Time to Kill and became friends, dating for a while. Some notable celebrity friends include Heather Burns and Hugh Grant.
Bullock married motorcycle builder and Monster Garage host Jesse James on July 16, 2005. They had met while Bullock had arranged for her ten-year-old godson to meet James as a Christmas present. On her husband and her marriage, Bullock has commented:
So basically through a courtship of letters... I learned about a human being. It was not something I wanted, needed, or looked for, but because he was a stronger person than I was, spiritually and on a tolerance level, I was lucky enough that he educated me... I always thought of marriage as a death sentence, that there'd be a ball and chain, and you'd be told, "You need to stop doing these things and become a good little wife." Now people say "Oh my God you're going to have sex with one person the rest of your life!" I hope I have sex with him for the rest of my life - because I like it![14]

On December 20, 2000, Bullock survived the crash of a chartered business jet at Jackson Hole Airport. The aircraft hit a snowbank instead of the runway, resulting in both the nose gear and nose cone being ripped off, the right wing partially separated from the aircraft and the left wing bent back. When the September 11, 2001 attacks occurred, Bullock was staying at the Soho Grand hotel, twelve blocks from the World Trade Center. She saw the attacks from her hotel bedroom window and went to a nearby hospital to offer help. As all phone lines in New York City were down, she spent the rest of the day using her Palm Pilot to send e-mails on behalf of patients wanting to contact their families.
Bullock has twice donated $1 million to the American Red Cross, first to its Liberty Disaster Relief Fund and four years later in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunamis.[15]

In October 2004, Bullock won a multimillion dollar judgment against Benny Daneshjou, the builder of her Lake Austin Texas mansion; the jury ruled the house was uninhabitable. It has since been torn down and rebuilt, and her Porsche 911 Turbo replaced by a Toyota Prius.[16] Bullock also owns a house on Tybee Island, Georgia, which is a few miles from Savannah, Georgia. After four years of preparation, Bullock's first restaurant, Bess,[17] opened in November 2006 in Austin, Texas.

On April 22, 2007, a woman was lying outside James and Bullock's Southern California home in Orange County. When James confronted the woman, she ran inside her 2004 silver Mercedes and tried to run him over 3 to 4 times. The woman is said to be an obsessed fan of Sandra Bullock. The woman, Marcia Diana Valentine, was arrested on investigation of assault with a deadly weapon.[18] In May, Bullock won a three-year restraining order against the woman. Valentine pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault and stalking.[19]
On April 18, 2008, while Bullock was in Massachusetts shooting the film The Proposal, she and her husband were in an SUV that was hit head on by a drunken driver. There were no injuries.[20]

Sandra Bullock's currently putting together a movie with Ryan Reynolds (Blade 3, Van Wilder) and her production crew in in talks with the town of Manchester, MA on using an outdoor parking lot at Singing Beach for over two weeks, between April 23rd, and May 8th. The movie is called "The Proposal" and we think it's safe to say that judging by the name and the cast, it'll be a romantic-comedy. The movie studio has began talks on securing a filing permit from the Town Administrator, Wayne Melville. Apparently, the studio is also looking at the towns of Gloucester and Peabody, too.

Crazed Fan Attacks Jesse James, Restraining Order Filed

A crazed fan in Huntingon Beach, California, attempted to run over Jesse James, the husband of Sandra Bullock, after engaging in a confrontation outside of the Hollywood couple's home. The raving looney, Marcia Diana Valentine, is a 45 year old resident of the neighrborhood, as well. She tried to run over Jesse James after Bullock asked her to leave their priority, said Jim Amormino, Orange County sheriff's spokesman.
"She jumped in the car, put it in reverse and accelerated in his direction," Amormino said Thursday. "She attempted to hit him three or four times." James was okay, and Valentine would be apprehended later on outside of the vicinity, as she had fled after her failed attempts. According to the police, this was not the first time Valentine had showed up on their property, as the couple have found her lying in front of their garage door numerous times.
Valentine had posted a $25,000 bail, and is scheduled for a hearing next month on May 22nd. "Both Jesse James and Sandra Bullock are fine, and it is now in the hands of authorities," said Cheryl Maisel, Bullock's publicist. A restraining order has been filed, and will most certainly be put through very soon.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star was rumoured to be planning to wed Paradis at Sandra Bullock's Georgia home earlier this month, but Depp's representative shot down those claims, insisting they were false.
New rumours arose this week (ends20Jun08), alleging Depp and Paradis were to exchange nuptials in Kentucky.
But Depp's spokesperson has again had to move fast to nix those reports, telling Usmagazine.com the claims are "not true".
The representative adds: "There is no wedding."
The couple has been together for 10 years and have two children - Lily-Rose, nine, and Jack, six.

Bullock and husband Jesse James were struck by another vehicle on 18 April while driving in Massachusetts, where the actress is currently shooting a new movie.
Lucille Gatchell, 64, entered a standard not guilty plea at the time of her arraignment on 22 April - but she changed her plea to guilty at a hearing in a court in the state on Tuesday.
Gatchell has been placed on probation for a year and ordered to complete an alcohol safety education program. Her driving licence has also been suspended and she has been ordered to pay all associated fines and fees.
According to People.com, Gatchell's lawyers share her "gratitude to Ms. Bullock and Mr. James for what she understands was their concern for her well being after the accident".
No one was injured in the incident.

Actress Sandra Bullock has turned her Texas restaurant into an eco-friendly hang-out by replacing plastic and polystyrene takeaway containers with biodegradable alternatives made from sugar cane and potatoes.
The environmentally-conscious Speed star revealed all about her green secrets during a tour around Austin eatery Bess as part of an Earth Day special on TV show Oprah, which aired on Tuesday.
The star showed off coffee cups made out of sugar cane and corn syrup, cutlery made from potatoes and takeaway boxes made out of sugar cane.
Bullock revealed she researched biodegradable alternatives when she first opened Bess in 2006 and discovered it only costs a little extra to become a green restaurateur
She says, "The price difference... is minimal, it's just a few cents, and I think we're absolutely worth it; those few extra pennies to make sure we have a beautiful earth."
Bullock's restaurant also features recycled furniture, including dining tables made from the floorboards of a house she renovated.

Latest: The alleged drunk driver who ploughed her car into actress Sandra Bullock's vehicle on Friday night has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence (Dui).
Bullock and her husband Jesse James were being driven home in a private vehicle in Gloucester, Massachusetts, at around 9.50pm when they were struck head-on by a grey Subaru station wagon.
The Subaru is reported to have switched lanes and smashed into the front of Bullock's car.
The driver of the Subaru, 64-year-old Lucille Gatchell, was arrested after failing a sobriety test, when she was reportedly two-and-a-half times over the legal limit.
She was arraigned in a Massachusetts District Court on Tuesday, where she faced a charge of Dui and a marked lanes violation, reports People.com.
At the court hearing, Gatchell used the opportunity to express her thanks to the couple for checking on her after the incident.
Her defence attorney Benjamin Richard says, "Miss Gatchell is very relieved that no one was injured. She also wants to express her gratitude to Ms. Bullock and Mr. James for what she understands was their concern for her well being after the accident."
Gatchell is next due in court on 6 June for a pre-trial hearing.

Actress Sandra Bullock is doing her bit to save the environment, by launching a range of eco-friendly candles.
The actress unveiled her wax creations on an episode of Oprah Winfrey's talk show, which aired on Tuesday - Earth Day in the U.S.
She revealed how she developed the line of candles using soy wax, after learning all about the chemicals that are normally used in their production.
She explained, "I started researching and you find out about lead wicks and chemicals in your candles. (Soy wax) is a renewable resource."
And Bullock is so happy with her new hobby, she joked that it could provide her with a second career: "(It's) something to fall back on."

Julia Roberts will celebrate Earth Day on Tuesday by showing off her compost skills on TV.
The Oscar winner recently joined pal Oprah Winfrey to tape a segment for a green-themed show, during which she shows how to mulch your own compost heap.
The glamorous mum-of-three quipped, "I'm usually dressed like this when I do it."
Sandra Bullock, who was involved in a car crash in Massachusetts on Friday night, also taped a segment for the show before she hit the headlines at the weekend.

Bullock + Husband Unhurt After Drunk Driver Crash

Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock and her husband Jesse James escaped serious injury after their car was hit by a suspected drunk driver on Friday night.
The couple was being driven home in a private vehicle in Gloucester, Massachusetts, at around 9.50pm when they were struck head on by a grey Subaru station wagon.
The Subaru is reported to have switched lanes and smashed into the front of Bullock's car. No injuries were reported.
Police attending the scene identified the Subaru driver as Lucille P. Gatchell, from Gloucester, who was arrested after failing a sobriety test.
Gatchell allegedly had two and a half times the legal alcohol limit in her system. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay in marked lanes.
The 64-year-old was released and is expected to face arraignment on Tuesday.
Gloucester Police Lieutenant Gerry Cook insists Bullock and her husband were lucky to escape unscathed.
He tells People.com, "They were shaken up, needless to say. But they were fine - he was hugging her. Jess and Sandra were hugging. They said they were fine, they didn't need medical attention. There were quite a few people snapping pictures of them.
"It's unfortunate. But it shows you that no one is immune from drunk drivers, no matter how famous you are."
Bullock is in the area filming romantic comedy The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds.

In their childhood, due to their mother's profession, they often stayed in Europe.

The family resettled in Washington D.C., where Bullock attended Washington-Lee High School. While at high school, Bullock was an admired cheerleader and called "The Most Likely To Brighten Your Day." With a B.A. in Drama in hand, Sandra Bullock decided to fly to New York to work on her acting career. In the Big Apple she took serious acting lessons, bartended, and attended castings and auditions. After studying with drama coach Sanford Meisner, Bullock began to land her first appearances in entertainment, which included a role in off-Broadway's No Time Flat.

Later Bullock moved to Los Angeles and received her first breaks when she was cast in Who Shot Patakango (1989) and played the pretty bionic woman in the TV's Bionic Showdown: The Six-Million-Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman (1989). With her own production company, Fortis Films, Bullock debuted as Executive Producer for the film Hope Floats (1998, directed by actor Forest Whitaker). She also continued to act in several comedy and drama films, including Practical Magic (1998, opposite Nicole Kidman), The Prince of Egypt (1998, voice), Forces of Nature (1999, starring Ben Affleck), Gun Shy (2000) and 28 Days (2000). In 2001 she was nominated again for her delightful comic character in the movie Miss Congeniality (2000). Sandra also appeared in Bob Schneider's music video "Round and Round" (2000).
